Shaakera Amade is a researcher and advocate for minorities and vulnerable groups. She is the founder of New Root – a female empowerment blog, and of Mwezi Cup, a non-profit initiative aimed at providing sustainable feminine hygiene products to underprivileged communities. Shakeera is an Associate to G3 Business Solutions on Specialist Minorities and Vulnerable Groups and a member of the G3 Sizuza Sonke Trust. 

She is certified in Business Communication and Public Relations by the University of South Africa. Shaakera has held communication and event management roles at several leading organisations, most recently at Aegis Global, where she oversaw internal communication and community outreach at this 5,000+ employee company.
